Hey everyone
I've been terrible at keeping up with my blog. I just started session 3. This class will cover Introduction to Acting. My mentor is Jason Taylor. Hell ya!
Heres a little history on Jason:
Jason Taylor has been a professional animator for 10 years. He has a BFA and has worked on everything from commercials, game cinematics, DVD titles, short films, and features. He has worked for many companies including Reel FX and Blur Studio. While at Blur he worked as an animator on tons of cool projects including several for Disney, the Academy nominated short film “Gopher Broke,” and was an animation supervisor on Blur’s newest short film “A Gentlemen’s Duel.”
After leaving Blur, Jason has been working for various companies doing freelance character animation full-time. He is currently working at Blue Sky Studios on their next feature “Horton Hears A Who.”
For the first assignment we are to animate a simple scene that clearly displays two beats of animation. For example, going from a happy walk to an angry and aggressive run.
I decided to go with this a guy working very hard on some assignment of some sort and then finally finishes. As he relaxes he accidently spills his drink on the keyboard. All the hard work lost.
Here is my first pass at blocking. Hopefully it reads well to you. Let me know what you think. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I think it was good. To make it look like he lost all his work, maybe you can have him grab the monitor with both of his hands from each side of it and shake it then place both of his hands under his chin with elbows on the desk and sort of hunched or something like that. Other than that, it was good.
Hey Eddie, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself. Yes, Jason is a rock star and a great guy!
Your animation is looking sweet at the blocking stage. Nice. The one comment I would add is to add a beat at the end so that you can see his reaction to what just happened. Not too much, probably about another 24ish frames. Enjoy and keep up the great work!
mom thought it was hysterical, i agree with andres to make his emotions seen, maybe have him jump up and down and hold his head like pulling his hair out or pick up the monitor and throw it against the wall to show his frustration because we are able to see his content look of gratification when he was done with the work and was about to relax. keep up the good work!
Thanks everyone for the great comments. I appreciate you guys stopping by.
I still have a lot to learn but I'm having a blast doing it. Please stop by any time.
Andy and Tina - I'll do my best to get those ideas in there. Just depends on how much time I have to do it. I'm glad mom like it.
Bobby - thanks man. I really appreciate your feedback. It's such an honor to have you comment on my blog. I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy.
Thanks again guys. Hope to make you all proud.
